Tzu Zoo Rescue

   Dear Volunteers, Adopters, and Supporters,   

As we start the last quarter of the year, we find we are outpacing ourselves from last year which is both good and bad.

• In 2009, Tzu Zoo saved 199 dogs and in 2010, we are already at 220 dogs. 
  
•  In 2009, Tzu Zoo adopted out 164 dogs and we are already at 173 in 2010.
  
• 81 dogs are available for adoption, 11 still needing a foster home.
  

The conditions of dogs finding their way to us need more and more medical help because of neglect and injury.  We are currently trying to pay off medical expenses for the 50 dogs taken in during August (22), September (20) and October (8 ).  Basic vetting averages $225 for spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm/fecal testing and dental cleanings so at minimum, we incurred $11,250.  Additional expenses we have experienced are:

• 5 Heartworm Treatments = $1500 min
  
• 3 Eye Removals and 3 more severe eye injuries = $1250 min
  
• 5 dogs with major issues likes masses, bladder stones, or blood disorders = $2000 min 
• Total medical expenses just for 2.3 months is $16,000, not including heartworm prevention, kennel cough, parasite removal, and normal issues that pop up.

Now comes the PLEA for MONEY.  We need $7000 to pay the rest of Aug and Sept expenses and another $4000 to clear our October debts with our wonderful and understanding vets.

Tzu Zoo Rescue Volunteers, Adopters and Supporters 

• Rescued over 500 dogs that may have otherwise been euthanized
  
• Allowed same dogs to receive much needed medical care
  
• Matched 384 dogs to wonderful homes
  
• Will spread the word to help us raise money to continue these efforts

Please help where you can and encourage others to do so as well.  This is a great rescue who gives less adoptable dogs the chance to flourish and eventually add joy to a family.
